TRANSFORMING YOUNG LIVES THROUGH BOARDING BURSARIES

the challenge

The Leys has a long tradition of providing bursaries to allow pupils from all backgrounds to study at the School.

Building upon this legacy it is our ambition that the Gift of Education will support two pupils in each year group of the School with fully funded 110% bursary places.

“Attending a boarding school is an experience which not many people have, and those of us who have the chance to do so know it is very special.”

THE PARTNERSHIP

The Royal National Children’s SpringBoard Foundation (RNCSF) is The Leys’ partner organisation in our ambitious challenge to offer fully funded bursary places allowing disadvantaged or vulnerable pupils to access the opportunities provided by a Leysian education.

As a social mobility charity, RNCSF works closely with community partners, schools, and Local Authorities to identify children who will benefit from the unique opportunities that a boarding school education offers. With a 96% retention rate we are confident they are able to match us with the most suitable pupils who will thrive and succeed here at The Leys.

“The education was excellent, and I don’t think I would have got into the university that I am in without the help and support that I got.”

“Without urgent action significant enough to meet the extraordinary challenges posed by the pandemic, there is a real risk that prospects for social mobility will be irreversibly damaged for a generation of young people.”

The Opportunity

We know the Covid-19 crisis has further reinforced already existing attainment gaps. The impetus is stronger than ever – for those of us who can – to help create opportunity for younger generations, providing them with the education they need to build a better future for themselves and for society.

Become part of the Gift of Education by making a one-off or a regular gift today. We are particularly grateful to those who make a regular commitment, standing by a pupil throughout their years at The Leys.
